About

Olector is a catalogue and marketplace for collectors. It grew out of a simple need: to know what you own, what it is worth today and where you could buy it cheaper — without a spreadsheet and without checking a dozen shops one by one.

What you do here

• Keep your collection. Add items to your treasury, record the purchase price and date, and the service values them against the current spot price.
• Browse the catalogue. Thousands of coin, bar and medal patterns with attributes, photographs and descriptions — organised into categories, filterable by weight, year, metal or mint.
• Compare dealer offers. Prices are collected from dealer sites, so each catalogue entry shows who offers it today and at what price.
• Buy and sell. List your own items on the market, run auctions, talk to interested buyers.

Exhibition, wants and other collectors

• Present your items in the exhibition. Show selected pieces publicly without putting them up for sale — and everyone following you is notified when you add something.
• Look for missing pieces and good deals. Mark the catalogue entries you are missing. When somebody lists an offer for one of them, you get a notification — you do not have to check the site daily to avoid missing it.
• Ask for a second opinion. Write to other collectors about a particular piece, its valuation or its authenticity. A conversation requires the other side to accept, so nobody receives messages they did not agree to.
• Follow other collectors. Following keeps you up to date with what appears in other people's exhibitions and offers. The person you follow can see that you do.

Two areas

The service runs two independent markets: precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium — coins, bars, medals) and firearms. You switch between them in the menu; each has its own catalogue, filters and offers.

What Olector is not

It is not a shop. We sell nothing on our own account and we do not act as an intermediary — transactions are concluded between users, or between a user and a shop we link to. Nor are we an investment adviser: we show spot prices and offers, but the decision and the risk are yours.
