Notifications

Notifications gather the events that call for your attention — a reply in a conversation, an offer on a listed piece, movement on something you watch. Unread ones are visible at a glance, so there is no need to comb through the service looking for changes.

What triggers them

• Conversations A new message in a thread concerning your offer or your exhibit.
• Selling An offer made on a piece you listed, and the further steps leading to the close of the transaction.
• Watched items A change on a piece you follow — a new offer of the same type, or movement on an offer you added to your watched list.

How to use them

• The counter shows the backlog. The service remembers how far down the list you have read — everything newer counts as unread.
• A notification leads to the event. From the list you go straight to the conversation thread or to the piece concerned — no searching.
• History stays. Read notifications do not disappear; you can return to them later to reconstruct how a matter unfolded.
• Notifications on your device. If you enable them, you learn about important events even when the service is not open.

Worth knowing

• Notifications concern your affairs alone — pieces you own, have listed or watch. This is not an announcement channel.
• You see events on an offer even when you are not a party to it, provided you added it to your watched list — the simplest way of following prices without commitment.
